Senior/Principal Marine Engineer

We are experiencing an increase in activity across our project portfolio and are therefore looking for motivated, proactive, and ambitious Senior/Principal Marine Engineers to join our team in Bergen. As Senior/Principal Marine Engineers, you will have a central role in our Marine Analysis team and develop innovative and cost-efficient solutions for our clients, such as designing marine spreads for Odfjell Oceanwind’s floating wind units and ultimately ensuring the successful realization of their projects.

Work tasks:

  • Moring system design
    • Design and develop mooring systems for offshore floaters, i.e., mobile offshore drilling units and floating offshore wind units 
    • Conduct stability and dynamic response analyses to ensure the reliability of mooring configurations 
    • Select appropriate materials and components for mooring lines, anchors, and connectors 
  • Advanced modeling and simulation
    • Develop and validate numerical models for floating structures and mooring systems 
    • Use software tools such as OrcaFlex and Mimosa to perform simulations and assess the impact of wave, current, and wind forces on floating structure 
    • Utilize simulations to optimize design and ensure compliance with industry standards 
  • Project development
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integration of mooring system designs into overall project 
    • Prepare technical reports, design documents, and presentations for stakeholders 
    • Provide technical support during the installation and commissioning of mooring system 
  • As needed, provide on-site support (surveys, yard stays, etc.) during installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mooring system
  • Dialogue and interface with clients and sub-contractors
  • Contribute to the development of in-house tools and knowledge sharing within the group

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor/Master of Science Degree in engineering, preferably specializing in Naval Architecture, Hydrodynamics, Marine Structures, or similar 
  • Proven experience in hydrodynamic analysis and mooring system design for offshore structures, especially floating offshore wind 
  • Proficient in fully coupled time-domain simulations using OrcaFlex 
  • Significant experience within front-end design projects related to floating wind 
  • Thorough understanding of Class- and continental shelf requirements as well as industry best practices, especially DNV and Havtil
