We have an exciting opportunity for an Electronic & Electrical Technician (EET) to join our Clair team working on an enhanced rotation of 161 days worked per annum.  Rotation details will be discussed with successful candidates at interview.

 

Role Summary: 
 
The EET is responsible for various duties including but not limited to the operational integrity, safety and the cost effective running of all drilling equipment maintenance and preventive maintenance. The ultimate objective of this position is to assist in ensuring that all instrument / electrical systems remain operative throughout the operation and comply with safety, regulatory body and test standards.  All role holders will demonstrate safe working practices in line with Company policies, procedures, training and legal requirements. Personnel will ensure their own safety at all times and will assist in ensuring the safety of others by participating fully in the Company Safety Management System. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain and repair as necessary all electrical equipment, investigating defects and submitting reports as required. 
  • Install 3rd Party Vendor drilling equipment, investigating defects, ensuring compliance to company and legal requirements. 
  • Carry out and record isolations of electrically driven equipment to be worked on by their self and others. 
  • Carry out and record pressure isolations of equipment e.g. gauges & transmitters to be worked on by their self and others. 
  • Offer technical assistance and electrical back-up as may be required for the safe operation of equipment on the installation. 
  • Carry out network switching as required. 
  • Document any change to drilling unit electrical/electronic systems, including management of the rigs software inventory. 
  • To investigate defects and submit reports as required. 
  • To manage 3rd party remote diagnostic connections as per procedure. 
  • To lead by example and ensure all works are carried out in a safe manner and in accordance with Odfjell Drilling’s safety management policies. 
  • Liaise with Odfjell and client electrical personnel on any matters relating to the safe electrical operation of the installation. 
  • Be knowledgeable of all Company safety policies and procedures that pertain to their area of responsibility. 
  • Assist the Maintenance Supervisor in the ordering of parts required for maintenance and repair of equipment. 
  • Complete in a professional manner all required maintenance reports. 
  • Carry out tasks as part of a multi-discipline maintenance team as operational requirements dictate, under direction of the Maintenance Supervisor. 
  • Ensures that the work sites in their areas of responsibility are kept in a clean and orderly manner, free of hazards. 
  • Attend shore-based training as directed by the Company. 
  • Complete any other reasonable tasks as delegated by Line Supervisor. 
  • Bring to the attention of their supervisors, actual and potential hazards to safety, health, plant, and equipment which come to their attention in the course of their work. 
  • Ensure that all work is carried out to the requirements of the Permit-to-Work system and in compliance with Safety Procedures. 
  • Must be knowledgeable regarding various functions of other rig departments and shore base operations. 
  • Ensure lessons learned are captured and incorporated in procedures/future programmes and written work instructions.  Promote and capture suggestions for improvement.  

 

Qualifications and or Experience: 

  • Must be fully qualified through an apprenticeship or SVQ type scheme. 
  • Preferably have current experience on floater, jack-up or platform rig with Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s), Siemens Step 7 and NOV Cyberbase experience. 
  • Must successfully pass pre-placement medical examination. 
  • Successfully demonstrate physical ability to perform essential job functions safely. 
  • Must be able to comply with Company rules.
