Odfjell Technology expands presence in the Middle East with new facility in Saudi Arabia
Odfjell Technology, an integrated supplier of offshore drilling, well services and engineering solutions , has expanded its presence in the Middle East, quadrupling operational capacity with a new facility in Saudi Arabia. The investment positions Odfjell Technology for further growth in a region with the world’s highest rig count and will enable expansion of its Tubular Running Services (TRS), wellbore clean up, drilling tool rental and well intervention offerings.
The new 10,000 sqm facility, strategically located in Qatif within the Eastern Province , has resulted in significant investment in both machinery and modern workshop facilities. A number of additional roles have been created as a result of the move, with plans to further increase the current headcount of 60.
The Kingdom is seen as a key region for driving further growth in Odfjell Technology. The new location compliments the company’s global footprint and strengthens our presence in the Middle East and Asia Pacific region, which today includes bases in UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand and Turkmenistan.
Phil Willig, Middle East Area Manager at Odfjell Technology, said: “We are excited about the opening of our new facility in Saudi Arabia, which is a significant milestone in our international growth strategy. Over the past 12 months we have secured a number of new contracts in the region and this new base puts us in prime position to further develop our market share.
“Our new Qatif facility also solidifies Odfjell Technology’s commitment to localisation of operations. We seek to add value to the local economy and local community by recruiting and developing homegrown talent, growing the in-country supply chain and making our technologies and expertise even more accessible to local customers.”
