Odfjell Technology (OTL) and Odfjell Drilling (ODL) are proud to announce the completion of yet another innovative measure to improve efficiency and reduce emissions on offshore assets
Odfjell Drilling participated in an industry project called PowerBlade Hybrid with National Oilwell Varco (NOV) to reduce the environmental footprint of the company’s operations. The PowerBlade Hybrid system – a combination of flywheels and batteries – captures regenerated electric energy when the drawworks brake the load. This prevents energy waste from heating resistor banks and reduces the need for cooling water and running generators.
In collaboration with Odfjell Drilling, the engineers at Odfjell Technology engineered tailormade solutions for the installation, system integration, and modification of topside facilities to accommodate the installation of the PowerBlade Hybrid on different Odfjell Drilling assets.
